Early Round VT Forecasts - let's start with Joey Dance at 125 lbs .

Round 1:
Joey Dance is the #2 seed and will face either Unseeded (US) Barlow McGhee (Missouri) or US Gabe Townsell (Stanford) as a result of their pigtail match. These 2 wrestlers are fairly even with Townsell 3-1 and McGhee 1-3 against common opponents during the 16/17 season.

Dance beat McGhee 1-0 in November 2015 but he hasn't faced Townsell before. McGhee is 0-2 vs Top 10 opponents this year while Townsell is 1-2 vs Top 10 with his win over #8 Piccininni of Okla State. McGhee recently went 2-2 in MAC Tournament for 5th place while Townsell went 1-2 in Pac12 Tournament for 4th place.WrestleStat has McGhee winning 6-4 but the match is too close to call. I will go with Townsell but doesn't really matter as I don't see one or the other matching up with Joey in a substantially different manner than the other.

Either will be a hard nose opponent but Joey should prevail by 2 takedowns over either, say 6-3 or so.

Round of 32:
Dance will get either #15 Drew Templeman (Wyoming) or US Conor Youtsey (Michigan). These 2 wrestlers are fairly even primarily because Youtsey hasn't wrestled as much this year (record of 5-6) because essentially he retired but due to injuries at Michigan at 125, he came back to the team in January 2017. Templeman was 0-4 and Youtsey was 0-1 against common opponents during the 16/17 season.

Dance is 2-1 against Youtsey but hasn't faced Templeman before. Templeman is 0-3 vs Top 10 opponents this year while Youtsey is 1-2 vs Top 10 with his win over #6 Lizak of Minnesota in recent Big10 Tournament. Templeman recently went 3-1 in Big12 Tournament for 3rd place while Youtsey went 3-2 (one medical forfeit) in Big10 Tournament for 5th place. WrestleStat has Youtsey winning 6-5 but the match is too close to call. I will go with Youtsey due to his experience in the NCAAT but a pretty even match none the less.

Either will be tough but Joey should prevail by 1 or 2 takedowns over either, say 5-3 or so.

Don't see Joey getting any bonus points in either round as he has been pretty measured and methodical in most of recent matches except for those like against Bentley of Pitt in ACC Semifinals where he clearly overmatches his opponent, don't see that here.
